Who I Am

Hey! I'm Ashley Wroton Lawrence, Ed.S., LPC, and my goal is to help you feel comfortable and confident and support your growth to your healthiest goals! I have over 10 years of experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor working with teens and adults (ages15+) who experience anxiety, depression, attachment and relational struggles, ADHD, and spiritual concerns. I received my Education Specialist degree in School Counseling and Mental Health from Old Dominion University in 2011 and have certificate level training in ADHD treatment.

If you have been feeling overwhelmed by life stressors, are weighed down by negative or scary thoughts, find it hard to get or stay motivated, keep repeating the same issues and have difficulty breaking out of old patterns, we can work together to give you the new skills and ways of thinking to break free!

Together we practice strategies to reduce the issues that have been making your life harder and build skills to grow healthier through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Theory, Emotional Freedom Technique, Trauma-Informed therapy, Nutritional Psychology, and Biblical-based approaches.

Counseling has the potential to genuinely change your life. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, family stressors, impacts of ADHD in yourself or a relative, concerns for your child, the pain of loss, or overwhelmed by the effects of developmental or relational trauma, counseling is a safe place to heal and learn!

Interesting Facts about Me:

- I also homeschool my son.

- I enjoy making all-natural, homemade products including body cream,

bug spray, shampoo, and hair/beard oil (for my husband and son).

- I relax by going for walks or bike rides on nature trails.

- I taught middle school for four years and still have an active teaching license in Virginia.

Virtual Consulting

Whether in the school setting, church ministry, or as a caregiver or parent, we can all find ourselves in unfamiliar situations that leave us feeling overwhelmed and uncertain of what to do. I can help with mental health awareness, behavioral concerns, communication skills, parenting strategies, managing family dynamics, and understanding the impact and connection of nutrition with mental health by working with you to problem-solve, implement strategies, and know when to refer or recommend various professional resources.  Consultations are offered as 30-minutes or 60-minutes and are cash-pay only. Please see the fees below in the FAQ section.

Homeschool Proof of Progress Evaluation

As a homeschool graduate myself and a homeschool momma, I know that there is not one way to homeschool nor a one-size-fits-all assessment. Every child is unique and each homeschool family's journey is especially chosen for a reason. You, as the parents, are the experts on your child, and my process of evaluation utilizes that strength. Evaluations are a great assessment option for younger children, children with ADHD, anxiety, or other neurodivergence, or families who want a lower-stress method of evaluation and proof of progress. Please see the FAQ section below for more information about my credentials, the evaluation process, and fees.

FAQ

How do I schedule an appointment?

Simply email me through the Contact link above or the Get In Touch section below. I will respond to any questions you may have, set up a free 15-minute phone consult, if desired, email the intake paperwork, and schedule your first session if you decide to start this Telehealth journey with me.

Will my health insurance cover therapy?

I accept these insurance plans:

Aetna Commercial

Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield

Anthem Federal Employee Programs

Anthem Health Keepers Plus

Tricare Prime (a referral from your PCP is required)

Tricare Select (out-of-network, which requires your POS deductible be met then a cost share/copay applies)

I also have cash-pay options for clients seeking therapy who have other plans, no insurance, or prefer to not have diagnoses as insurance requires a diagnosis for reimbursement of services. If you would like to submit to your insurance for reimbursement, I can provide a statement of services or "superbill;" however, this does not guarantee your insurance company will provide full or any reimbursement.

What are the session fees?

With insurance:
Your co-pay, co-insurance, or the insurance allowable toward your deductible for the appointment would be charged. Calling your insurance customer service will be the best way to know your coverage, copayment, and deductible specific to your plan prior to scheduling your appointments.

Cash-pay Counseling and Virtual Consulting:
$130/ initial session
$85 / 30 minute session
$170 / 60 minute session
$425 / Pre-pay for six 30 minute sessions (does not include the initial session)
$850 / Pre-pay for six 60 minute sessions (does not include the initial session)

How do I pay for sessions?

Convenient payment is available through PayPal, Cash App, and Venmo.
All payments are due prior to sessions.

Can I still work with you even if I live outside of Virginia?

Because I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia, I can only work with clients who have a legal residence in the state of Virginia and have insurance based in the state of Virginia (if you are using insurance). If you are out of town for an extended period, but maintain a residence and insurance in Virginia, I could continue to work with you!
Contacting your insurance customer service is the best way to verify your coverage for services and is ultimately the responsibility of the client.

Do your credentials meet the Virginia homeschool proof of progress evaluator requirements?

Yes, I still hold a Virginia professional license as a teacher (PreK-6 certification) and school counselor (K-12).

I also have a Masters in Education, elementary education specialty, as well as an Education Specialist (post Master's degree) in school counseling and mental health.

What is your evaluation process?

You can use the Get In Touch option below to let me know you are interested in learning more about the evaluation or submit the Evaluation Form to move forward with the process.

Once the Form is complete, I will respond to schedule a video interview with you and your child(ren).

This can range from 10-30 minutes per child. Their age, personality, and social comfort are kept in mind.

You are also welcome to email me samples of their Language Arts and Mathematics (what is legally required in Virginia) along with any other subject work samples for review.

What are the costs of the evaluation and proof of progress letter?

The fee for the evaluation and proof of progress letter is $75 for the first child and $25 for each additional child.

Once the Evaluation Form is complete, I will send links in my response to my Cash App, PayPal, and Venmo for payment.

Can I, as a current counseling client, use you as an evaluator for homeschool proof of progress?

Unfortunately, no. I would not be able to evaluate a current client or the child(ren) of a current client as this is considered a dual relationship and conflict of interest.
